Cynthia started her career as a model New York. An agreement for five years was signed with Wihelmina Models. She then became the model for Essence Magazine. Not only was Cynthia's first cover for Essence one of the top-selling covers ever published by the magazine, it was also the personal choice of the editor-in-chief Susan Taylor. Cynthia's second cover was booked soon after and set the foundation for a long-lasting career. The next stop was Paris as well as Milan. In Milan, she was seen in the catwalks of Paris Fashion Week. After spending almost a an entire year Cynthia came back to New York City and was very sought-after in landing campaigns with Maybelline, Oil of Olay and Macy's. The magazine editorials of Vogue Glamour Elle Essence and Vanity Fair followed. Cynthia's career was boosted by her being chosen before Naomi Campbell for the co-starring part in "Without You I'm Not Anything" with Sandra Bernhadt.
